a. Note:   Pheneas witnessed the will of Joseph Hill at Kingwood, Hunterdon Co, NJ on
 3 March 1772. He lived several years in N.Y., then returned to NJ where the
 later children were born. About 1779 or sooner they moved to Rowan Co, N.C.,
 where they lived during the Revolution & were frequently persecuted by the
 Tories. Pheneas owned lands & a good living. About 1795 they moved to Otter
 Creek, Madison Co, Ky (about 3 miles North east of Richmond). When he was
 about 65, he joined the Shakers & moved to Mercer Co, Ky. In Bethleham 1778.
