a. Continued:   Tamar was the daughter of Phineas and Tryphena Walker; her father was a veteran of the American War for Independence from Brookfield, Mass. She was named for her mother's twin sister, Tamar Hinds.
An erroneous source claims she was born "4 January 1790 in Lockport, Cayuga Co., New York." The record in the Phillips family Bible reads that she was born "22 March 1791"--this date is more believable because it was written in Tamar's own hand; also, her family was living in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY by 1790 and the U.S. Census that year does not show an infant daughter.
A portrait painting of Mrs. Tamar (Walker) Phillips Taylor hangs in the living room of Mrs. Rod Phillips of Tillamook, Oregon. A portrait painting of her second husband, the Rev. William Taylor, is also there. The old portrait of Ezra G. Phillips was handed down through Frank B. Phillips (1855-1931) but was lost in a house fire in Coquille, Oregon early in the 1900s. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
