Note: n the 22nd August 1853 in Chatteris which should have made him 76 years old (if he was baptized in infancy). However, in the Chatteris Parish Register he is shown as "aged 82 years". His wife had died previously and his older children were either married, or had themselves already died, so perhaps no one in his second family actually knew his age, or he may have been as old as six when he was baptized.

(Explanation: Philip the elder evidently purchased some sheep. Then his son, Philip the younger, drove them down the road. Some sheep were missing from the original owner and and inquiry was made because Philip the younger was seen driving sheep in the area and was not the one who purchased the sheep -it was discovered that his father was the one who purchased the sheep.)

In 1841 Philip Wheaton was living at Slade End, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. Living with him at the same property (all with the surname "Wheaton") were Catherine, Frederick, Jane, Eliza and Thomas, all of whom were born after the death of his first wife, Elizabeth, and before his marriage to Ann James. No baptisms for these children in the name of Wheaton or James can be found in the Chatteris Registers.
