a. Continued:   Joseph's Michigan Death Certificate indicates he was born 4 September 1843.
Joseph's Michigan Death Certificate identifies his father as "John" Rowe and mother "unknown". DNA matches between descendants of Henry Green/Rowe and Joseph Green/Rowe show a connection, and the the most reasonable conclusion is that Joseph was actually the son of Joseph Green/Rowe who died in 1870 in Pulaski, Michigan
According to a descendant (Ancestry user "gotwx"):
"Per HC Rowe, before coming to America, Joseph worked on the Great Eastland before it layed the Atlantic Cable. He and Jane Watson first lived in a long cabin near Hastings, Michigan. Later he was a mason and bricklayer in Grand Rapids, Michigan."
The fact that he was a mason further corroborates he was a half-brother of Henry Rowe, who was also a mason.
The 1910 Census indicates that Joseph immigrated to the United States in 1866. He was enumerated on the 1870 U.S. Census in Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan, with his wife Jane (age 24), and two children, Mary Ann (2) and Harriette (1). In 1880, Joseph "Roe" and wife Jane E., with children Mary Ann (13), Harriet E. (13), Joseph H. (6) and an infant boy (age 1 month), lived in Hastings, Barry County, Michigan. The family was not located on the 1900 U.S. Census. In 1910, Joseph and Jane were enumerated with their son Henry J. (age 35) in Garfield, Newaygo County, Michigan. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
