Note: Obituary: Leon C. Bower Sr., 77, of 1042 Rick Road, Bern Township, formerly of 1021 Buttonwood St., died Monday morning in St. Joseph Medical Center. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Daniel H. and Josephine (Keffer) Bower. Bower was owner-operator of Bowers Garage, Reading, for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Bower was a member of First Baptist Church, Reading. Surviving is a daughter, Kathy J. (Bower) Hess, Reading. Other survivors include two sisters, Lillian (Bower) Fishel, Lancaster, and Josephine (Bower) Denatale, Reading; a brother, Harry R. Bower; and a half brother, Thomas R. Clay, Reading. There are also six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by a son, Leon C. Bower, Jr. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
