Note:   Obit. M. McEniry CALLED IN DEATH. The people of Greene were surprised beyond measure on Christmas day in the afternoon when the news was spread of the sudden death of M. McEniry at his home in this city. It was known that Mr. McEniry was ill, but he was reported better and none of his large circle of friends were prepared for the shock which came doubly severe on his family as they were called from their Christmas dinner to his bedside and were unable then to say farewell, he passed so quickly. He had a throat and stomach trouble which were the causes of his death. In a residence of 35 years in Greene few men have done better than Mr. McEniry. He was agent of the Rock Island and for many years and filled the position with credit. Since retiring from business life he has on many occasions been called upon to look after important business matters and was always done so to the satisfaction of all. He leaves a clean record of a life well spent. His happiest moments were the greeting home of his three stalwart sons who had made so good in war activities and the positions of honor they had attained. He was public spirited and was ever a friend of the needy and those in distress. He saw too the need of a good education and gave all his children a college education. The Recorder joins the community in extending deepest sympathy to his sorrowing family. A good man has gone to his reward. Obiturary.
