From William and Dorothy Humphries book Looking Back - Humphries Ancestry (1988): "Joseph Humphries died in 1899 while visiting at the home of his son, Joseph Nathan Jr. Joseph Nathan Jr. lived on Air Port Road, near Jasper. Joseph was on his way to Mississippi to visit some of his family when he died.
Tombstone for Joseph Humphries was placed at the head of his grave on 9 May 1988. It was a Confederate Monument . It was placed by great grandsons - Dub Humphries and Roger Humphries, and great-great grandson - Willie Farley. Joseph is buried in South Lowell Cemetery, Winston Co., AL."
