The original ancestor was Jost Tschudi of Ennenda in Custom Field:<_FA#> Kanton Glarus, Switzerland b. 1380 d. 1428. He also used the surname of Custom Field:<_FA#> Schiesser which was that of a step brother who reared him. At the time of the Custom Field:<_FA#> Reformation the Tschudi family of Glarus split into a Catholic and a Protestant Custom Field:<_FA#> line. Some worked closely with Ulrich Zwingli at Zuerich. Aegidius Tschudi, Custom Field:<_FA#> closely associated with the story of William Tell and one of the earliest and Custom Field:<_FA#> most noted Swiss historians, who was also a friend of Zwingli but later returned Custom Field:<_FA#> to the Catholic church. An Ulrich Tschudi was captain of tripps in France in Custom Field:<_FA#> 1549 and 1550 and was a councilman in Glarus. He was the progenitor of the Custom Field:<_FA#> Reformed line of Tshudis. His son Ulrich Tschudi was also a captain in France Custom Field:<_FA#> in 1588-1590 under Ludwig Wichser of Glarus.
