George Yates IV (of Caroline) born 1721 or 1728. FGR
"7 George (d ante 1788);" (CAG v5, Kinison, Nettie Browning Danfort
"On April 13, 1758, he and other planters of Virginia were commissioned officers in the Colonial Militia.... "The French and Indian Wars, also known as the Seven Years' Wars, lasted from 1755 to 1763, and it is known that the Virginia Militia participated in a number of campaigns during those years. And it is reasonable to assume that Lieutenant George Yates was actively engaged in one or more expeditions. Furthermore, the expedition against the Cherokee Indians occurred in 1758 and 1760 in which the Virgina Militia was engaged. "On August 8, 1765 he was advanced to a captaincy.... "George Yates died testate in Caroline County sometime prior to March 1776, and it is quite possible that he contracted small pox from one of the soldiers whom he cared for prior to his death." AAG
