DECLARATION OF INTENTION FOR U.S. CITIZENSHIP (Minn Hist Society microfilm, Book E, Pg 278): JAMES ORENSTEIN renounced the Czar of Russia and applied for citizenship 30 October 1894, in Washington County, MN. The document was signed in excellent English handwriting. Just before the turn of the century, the family moved to Superior, Wisconsin, then to Calumet Township, Michigan.
