a. Note:   *Immigrated with his wife and six children in a group of 170 from Scotland, arriving on the "Prince of Wales" at Savannah,
Georgia. Jan 1736. Left there in February and established the
town of "Darien" on the Altamaha River about 25 miles south of
Savannah. Two more children were born in Georgia. He took part
in an attack on the St Augustine, Fla in the fall of 1739 and
was taken prisoner by the Spanish. His original name was said to
be "John Mackintosh Mohr", the word Mohr bring similar to the
title, meaning "Leader", or "the great"
