Will and his father were both carpenters by trade and were very active in the building of Beech Grove General Baptist in Allen County. The date stone on the front of the church near the door was made by Will. Carpenter work seemed to be more plentiful in and around Bowling Green so Will and Rosie moved to Warren County. They lived in a rented house until Will could build the first house they ever owned. It is on the corner of Nutwood and 13th Street and is still in good condition. The house has a limestone foundation. They are the parents of 5 children. In 1907 Will died of acute appendicitis at the young age of thirty-six. Rosie was left with the responsibility of five small children. She had to have a way to make money to raise her family. She began doing sewing in her home, where she could also care for the children. She became a good seamstress and always stayed busy. Sometime later she decided it would be best to exchange her much-loved home for the farm next to her parents, so back to Allen County she and the children moved. Now she had her parents to help care for the children; she began doing practical nursing for which she received much better pay.
