  According to information obtained from Karen Krugman: An estate inventory made Feb. 14, 1843 includes the following names: Joseph Pinner(son-in-law), Mary Acree(wife), Lucy Wimberly(daughter), Joel B. Acree(son), as well as many others. He was buried in Acree Cemetary, Stewart County, Tennessee. Headstone reads: "John R. son of Edward and Sarah Acree, born 20 Nov 1780, was married to Mary Brown 9 Dec 1800, settled here in 1803, died 4 Feb 1843. " John was a man of medium size, light complexion, black hair and dark blue eyes. He was a violinist(fiddler) and plyed at his son Joel's wedding celebration. He was married to Mary Brown, daughter of Joel Brown and Mary Seay, on December 9, 1800 in Bertie County, NC. John and Mary left North Carolina shortly after their marriage and came to the Cumberland region, of Tennessee to become the first Acrees to settle there.
