Note: SWAMP YANKEE OF MYSTIC, by James H. Allyn, page 45. The Fenners were one of the earliest families in Rhode Island, but the first one Thomas Fenner settled in Branford CT. He and his family came from Atta Fenn Farm near Horley, Sussex. Thomas' son Arthur remained in EN for several years after the rest of the family came over, but when he arrived, both father and son moved to Providence. Thomas traded with the Indians, and in his old age moved back to Brandford where the family kept a trading post. When he died in 1647 he left an estate of some 60 Pounds, which included a boat, Dutch money, beaver skins and other trading goods.
