Walter DeScarisbrick was Lord of Scarisbrick. He gave "Gorsuch" to his youngest son Adam, who also took the name Gorsuch as his surname. This was common practice. The surname Gorsuch was originally Scarisbrick (locally pronounced Scasebrick). Scarisbrick is a township which is in the northwest corner of the parrish of Ormskirk (Ormschurch). West Derby Hundred, County Lancaster, England. Southeast of the park is "Gorsuch" formerly Goose-Ford-syke. The size of the township is only 8.398 acres. (FTM#8-1339)
