In the visitation of London 1633-35 (Harleian Society; Visitation Vol. XV p.327) there is to be found the Pedigree of the Gorsuch family of Bishopsgate Ward, London, recorded in 1633 by Daniel Gorsuch of London.
Daniel Gorsuch and his wife, Alice (Hall) Gorsuch, are entombed underneath a massive but beautiful marble monument, on the south side of the chancel in Walkern Church. This monument bears the following inscription: "Daniel Gorsner Ctizen and Mercer of London in Ye Month of July 1638 caused Ys Tombe To Be Made For Himself & His Wife Alice By Whom He Had Three Children John Katherine & Mary His Age Being Yn 69 Years 6 Months and Odd Dayes, Who Died The Wight Daye of October Ao DO 1638" (VMHB Vol.24, P.86)
Note: a "mercer" is a merchant whose business is buying or selling goods.
Above record states that on the monument is the arms of Gorsuch, impaled with the arms of Hall and gives descriptions of same.
Gorsuch family entries in the Bishop's Transcripts of the Walkern Herts Register show: "1638 October 16- Danyell Gorsuch, London, merchant buried" "1642- John Gorsuch, rector of Walkern, ejected" Baptismal records of several of the children of John Gorsuch are also taken from the above-mentioned Bishop's Transcripts.
