Notes
a. Note:   Note: 1. Jacob and his family removed from Connecticut to Columbia County, New York in 1780. He then removed to the area of Cherry Valley, Tryon (now Otsego) County where he purchased 200 acres of land.
  2. From a clipping cut from the Otsego Republican, published at Cooperstown, New York September 4, 1879 and pasted in a book owned by Mrs. Mason Tripp, a descendant of Nathaniel Brown:
  "The Brown Family Reunion"
"In the winter (February) of 1797, less than a quarter of a century after the declaration of independence had proclaimed to the world the birth of a new republic, a man by the name of Jacob Brown settled in what is now the town of Decatur. On Thursday Aug. 21 his descendants numbering one hundred sixty five assembled on the same spot in a family reunion."
"The venerable Barzillai R. Brown, whose hair is silvered by the frost of several winters, was chosen president and occupied the same chair that had so often tenanted his ancestor in the days of old Lang's syne. Jacob Brown was chosen Secretary."
"After congratulations and handshaking the gathering adjourned to dinner where at least five hundred people sat down to well arranged and bountifully laden tables. After satisfying the inner man the multitude repaired to the stand where the following program was rendered."
