  by Stefan Bielinski
Alida Roseboom was born in 1713. She was a younger daughter in the small family of Albany residents Myndert and Maria Vinhagen Roseboom. Losing her father when she was nine, her mother raised their family in a comfortable Albany home.
Just past her twenty-second birthday, in 1735 she married twenty-eight-year-old Sybrant G. Van Schaick. Their seven children were baptized between 1736 and 1751 in the Albany Dutch church where she was a member and pewholder.
The couple made their home in a landmark Van Schaick house on Market Street. Sybrant was a businessman and public official who was appointed mayor of Albany in 1756.
With the end of the French and Indian war, these Van Schaicks moved down to their property at Coxcackie where Alida died in July 1770 at age fifty-six.
The life of Alida Roseboom Van Schaick is CAP biography number 1534. This profile is derived chiefly from family and community-based resources. Useful background information on the Roseboom family is available on the Internet.
