Elizabeth Nottingham was born during the 1670s. She probably was the daughter of English soldier William Nottingham. She probabaly grew up in what became Ulster County, New York.
In 1695, she married Albany native Johannes Harmanse Visscher at the Kingston Reformed church. By 1721, eight of her children had been baptized at the Dutch church in Albany.
These Visschers lived in Albany where Johannes was a trader and businessman. These Albany mainstays lived on Pearl Street for more than fifty years. In November 1723, she asked the Albany government to pay the thirty pounds owed to her husband.
Johannes Visscher died in 1749. Elizabeth Nottingham Visscher died in October 1754 and was buried by her son in the Albany church cemetery.
Sources: The life of Elizabeth Nottingham Visscher is CAP biography number 503. This sketch is derived chiefly from family and community-based resources.
