EX-AVON MARSHAL STRICKEN AT 75 Long Illness Fatal to John G. Smith AVON---John G. Smith, 75, retired farmer and former village marshal for five years, died at his home yesterday at 5:40 P.M. following a long illness. Smith came to Avon at the age of 15 after a boyhood in Wisconsin. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church. In addition to his wife, Mary, Smith is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Bernard Urig, Martinez, Cal., and Mrs. Leo Kimpton, Cleveland, six sons, Edward, Leo and Aloysius, all of Rocky River, and Carl, Albert and William of Avon; 16 grandchildren, two brothers, Christian Smith, and Joseph Smith, Lorain; three sisters; Mrs. Mary Webber, Lorain, Mrs. Katherine Zimmer, Avon Lake and Mrs. Tillie Romas, New Bavaria, Oh. The body will be taken to the home tomorrow morning from the Reichlin-Cooley funeral parlor. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:30 A.M. in the home and at 9: A.M. in St. Mary's church, Avon, Rev. Fr. George N. Stuber will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Mary's cemetery.
