Note: Obituary: July 10, 1956 - The Lorain Journal - Paul W. Shuckhart Paul W. Shuckhart, 44, formerly of Elyria, manager of the Joseph C. Grant Co., Battle Creek, Mich., died at 2:35 A. M. yesterday at Leila Hospital where he was re-admitted several hours before his death. He had been confined previously for eight weeks and under went surgery June 6. At the time of his death, Mr. Shuckhart was chairman of the Merchants Association: was an active member of the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce: vice-president of the Marywood Country Club and an ardent golfer and bowler. He was a member of St. Philip's Church and resided at 80 N. Broad St. He is survived by his wife, the former Gertrude Casper of Avon; three daughters, all at home, Lois Ann, a student nurse, Barbara, a senior at St. Philips and Mary Jane, a fourth grader at St. Philips; his mother, Mrs. Anna Shuckhart who resides in Elyria with his sister, Mrs. Ted Seward. He was born in Sandusky, Jan. 28, 1912, was a graduate of Elyria High School and was formerly in merchandising at the May Co., Cleveland, before becoming assistant with Richard S. Leslie at the Joseph S. Grant co. in 1941. The body is at the Shaw Funeral Home, in Battle Creek. Requiem High Mass will be sung Thursday 9 A. M. at St. Philips Church The body will be brought to Elyria for burial in St. Mary Cemetery with grave side services to be conducted by the Rev. Fr. John A. Carrabine and the Rev. Fr. John McCaffery, at 4:30 P. M. Thursday.
