  Obituary for Mrs A.L. Van Fleet

  Mrs A.L. Van Fleet died at hte family home two milse south of Beatie at 2:30 Monday morning , November 29 ath the age of 59 years 9 months and 19 days. She had been in poor health fo r several months. About three months ago she grew worse and despite medical aid and all poss ible care she gradually failed until relieved of her suffering in death.
 Funeral services were conducted at the home at 10:00 Tuesday morning by Reverend Barber. Th e body, accompanied by the family, was taken to Nelson Center, Cloud County where services we re held and internment made.
 Catherine P Thomas was born in Warren County, Illinois on Feburary 10, 1861. On March 3 1881 , she was united in marriage to Alonzo L. Van Fleet. Five years later the family moved to Kan sas and in 1912 they settled in this county near Beattie where the family home has since been . To Mr and Mrs Van Fleet were born seven children, five sons and two daughters. One daughte r at the age of 21 and a son in infancy, preceded their mother in death. The living childre n are: John and Roy of Beattie, Sargent George Van Fleet of South San Antonio, Texas, Clyde o f Maryville and Effie of Delphos.
 Deceased was a devoted and loving wife and mother. a consisent Christian, having affiliated w ith the Methodist church early in life, a good neighbor and friend to all who knew her. She w ill be sincerely mourned by all who knew her. The family is extended the deepest sympathy o f the community in their bereavement. Beattie Journal
