  In the Name of God amen. I, John McKenney Sen. of the parish of Cople and County of Westmoreland in Virginia being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be unto Almighty God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life that all flesh must yield unto death when and wheresoever it seems Good to Almight God, do therefore make constitute, ordain and declar this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following revoking and annihilating by these presents all and every Testament and Testaments, Will and Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or by writing, & this is to be taken only for my last Will and Testament & no other And first being penitent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my past sins most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same, do commit & command my soul unto Almighty God my Createer & Redeemer through whose mercy and by the merits of Christ death and passion thirst and believe assuredly to be saved to have full remissionand forgiveness of all my sins that my soul and my Body at the general resurrection shall rise again with joy & inherit the Kingdom of God prepared for his children and elect ones, and my Body I give to the Earth to bured as the discretion of my Exec'rs hereafter nominate. And now for settling my temporarl Estate & such goods & chattles as it pleases Almighty God to bestow upon me I ordain, give and dispose in manner & form following viz: I give and bequeath unto my Son Duke McKenney the Tract of Land that I now live on to him and his heirs lawfully begotten of his body forever. My Will and desire is that the remainder part of my Estate be equally divded among my three children, Joseph McKenney, Duke McKenney & Barbara Moore. My will and desire that my loving wife Nelly McKenney have all the estate that I received of her property and that it be by her accepted as full and compleat of all thirds of Dower belonging to her by deed of my personal or Real Estate. In witness and confirmation of this my last will & Testament I set my hand and affix'd my Seal the Twelfth day of May One thousand Seven hundred Eighty four. I desire that my son Duke McKenney be Exector of this my last will and Testament. Signed and sealed John McKenney Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of Walker Yeatman, Elizabeth Miller At a Court held for Westmoreland County the 31st day of August 1784, This Will was proved according to law by the oaths of Walker YHeatman and Elizabeth Miller the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
