David Murrie Traill: Death: 1901
Note: Born in same town as Andrew Carnegie was in 1835. His first wife and he had 3 sons and 2 sisters.
In Scotland, had been apprenticed to a printer and worked as a journeyman printer before departing overseas.
In his later years, was reluctant to discuss family history much. David left for India in 1863. He worked in India from 1864-about 1888, his printing shop having the contracts for all of the railways in India. He sold a successful stationery business in Calcutta, and when he retired back to Scotland, was in the merchant class. They lived briefly at Leamington Terrace in Edinburgh, near the Barclay Church. His rise to some financial success set him apart from the earlier history and the rest of the family, leaving his past as a "closed book."
Married third wife in 1911. Name was Grace Robertson Kennedy.
