Notes
a. Note:   He and Esther are buried in the Hillside Cemetery at Wilton. Daniel built a fine house which was still standing in 1938, on a knoll opposite the Congregational Church in Wilton. British Forces after the battle of Ridgefield in the Revolution, passed this house. As they approached, the Gregory men fled to the woods to escape being impressed into the British Army. Esther hid her silverware in the well and took her children into the cellar; a ball fired through a cellar window grazed her forehead. An officer with drawn sword entered and demanded and received food. Daniel was a farmer. He was elected deacon of the Congregational Church, 7 October 1794. On the organization of the town of Wilton in 1802, he was on the first board of selectmen.
