Note: illips. Bullet Wounds Fatal for Willard Kissee. Woman Faces Murder Count. Willard Kissee, 57, well known Reeds Spring cattleman, was fatally shot last Sunday morning at a residence near Crane and a woman acquaintance has been charged with first degree murder in connection with his death. Charges were filed at Galena Monday against Lenora Gwen Hurley, 39, who lives with her parents three miles south of Crane. She is accused of shooting Kissee nine times with a .22 caliber pistol after Kissee came to her home while her parents were at church. She is free on $7,500 bond, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 12 at Galena. Authorities believe Kissee, who lived on one of his ranches four miles south of Reeds Spring, was shot by Miss Hurley in a fit of jealousy after an argument. The two were known to have “kept company” for several years. Kissee was widely known throughout the midwest as a large scale cattle operator. In addition to running hundreds of Hereford cattle on his ranches and at his farm four miles north of Ozark, he conducted a weekly auction at Harrison, Ark. and was connected with the Union Stock Yards in Springfield. Funeral services for Kissee were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chaffin Funeral Chapel in Ozark, with Rev. Harold Mayes, pastor of the Ozark Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery, north of Ozark, under direction of Chaffin. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nina Kissee, route 2, Ozark, one son, Bill Kissee; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Kissee and two grandchildren, Judy and Harold, also of Route 2; two brothers, Ellis Kissee of Ozark and Knial Kissee of Sparta; three sisters, Mrs. Elza Sherrow of Ozark; Mrs. Clara White of Springfield and Mrs. Pearl Raper of Fresno, Calif. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kissee and one brother, Raymond Kissee of Ozark.
