 J.H. Standage Passes Away J. H. Standage, an old and respected citizen, died at his home in this city on Friday last and was buried in the City cemetery Sunday. Funeral services were held in the Christian church Sunday at 1:30 p.m. conducted by J.V. Coombs.

  Jasper came to Oregon in about 1856 by ox team. He drove freight wagon from
 Boise, Idaho to Weston, Oregon. He eventually became Sheriff of Weston, which
 his wife, Cora, was apparently not too pleased with because a photograph was
 taken of him with his badge on and she took a pencil and marked it out. The
 photograph is in the possession of Karen Brehm.
