Note: TONGANOXIE-- Nellie May (McBride) Davies Zacharias, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the Via Christie-St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita. Mrs. Zacharias was born April 8, 1928 at Doniphan, the daughter of Nathan and Permelia (Armstrong) McBride.
She grew up in the communities of Troy and Atchison and lived the rest of her life in the communities of Lancaster, Basehor and Tonganoxie.
In 1944, she married William H. Davies, he preceded her in death in 1949. On March 2, 1952 she married Harry Glen Zacharias. He preceded her in death in November 2004.
She was a member of the Tonganoxie Christian Church and in her younger years she was a member of the Modern Mrs. Bunco Club; the Shannon School Community Committee and was a charter member of the Basehor Kansas Chamber of Commerce. She was a cook in restaurants around the area. In 1985 she and her husband opened "Zach's" Cafe in Basehor and operated for two years before retiring.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sam McBride; one sister, Dorris Sellers; and one son, Steven D. Zacharias.
Survivors include two sons, William (Bill) H. Zacharias and wife Jane of Clay Center and Frank R. Zacharias and wife Bev of Kansas City; two daughters, Doris L. Schoeck and husband Jack of Emporia and Rhonda J. Boggs and husband John of Wichita; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will follow in Round Prairie Cemetery at Lowemount.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
