DANIEL LARZELERE Daniel Larzelere, who is one of the oldestgrain dealers in the state of Michigan, now living a retiredlife in Quincy, has passed the eighty-fourth milestone on life'sjourney, his birth having occurred in Seneca Falls, New York, in1821. In the paternal line he is of French lineage and in thematernal line of Dutch descent. His father, William Larzelere,was a native of the Empire state and traced his ancestry back toone of three brothers who came to America in an early day,fleeing from their own country and settling on Staten Island.William Larzelere was connected with the boat business and wasalso active in speculation. In 1836, he came to Michigan,settling one mile west of Kenton (Clinton), in Lenawee County.He was in good financial circumstances, prosperous in most ofhis business investments. He became prominent in communityaffairs and was called to various public offices, serving ascollector and justice of the peace, filling the last namedposition for a number of years in New York. His politicalallegiance was given to the Whig party until its dissolution,when he joined the ranks of the new Republican party. In hisreligious faith, he was a Congregationational. He married MahalaBurrows, a native of Seneca Falls, New York, who died in 1885,at the age of eighty-two years. they were the parents of sevensons and one daughter. 6.)
