a. Note:   S NORTH WEST OF THIS CITY. WHILE MRS. NELS DESAIR AND HER DAUGHTERS EMELINE AND ELLEN, AGED 13 AND 6 YEARS RESPECTIVELY, WERE OUT ON THE LAKE SKATING THE ELDEST GIRL BROKE THROUGH THE ICE FALLING INTO DEEP WATER. THE YOUNGEST GIRL SEEING HER SISTER IN THE WATER RUSHED TO THE OPENING IN THE ICE AND PLUNGED IN HEAD FOREMOST GOING DOWN TO COME UP UNDER THE ICE SOME DISTANCE FROM THE OPENING. THE MOTHER WENT TO THE RESCUE OF HER CHILDREN AND FALLING INTO THE WATER SOON BECAME CHILLED WITH THE COLD AND AFTER SUCCEEDING IN PULLING HERSELF UPON THE ICE BECAME UNCONCIOUS, WHERE SHE REMAINED UNTIL FOUND BY MRS. WILSON WHO WAS ATTRACTED TO THE SPOT BY THE CRIES OF THE PARTIES BUT TO LATE TO BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE EXCEPT TO THE MOTHER WHO WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE DIED HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR HER. THE BODIES WERE RECOVERED BY MARK H. WILSON AND THE FUNERAL WAS HELD MONDAY AT STANFORD."
