a. Note:   d.In 1715 " Mary Tyce " paid a tithe in Hyde Precininctof 6 pounds,9 shillings, and 6 pence. Mary and her brother Thomas came to Pennsylvania in 1698 on theShip "William Galley", where they stayed with Isaac Shoemaker.Mary was one of the orphaned children who were sent toGermantown, PA, to be cared for by relatives. Tradition holds onboard ship was Joan Potts, a female physician with four daughters. After Mathais Tyson's death, Mary married George Hill in 1710.He died on 04/17/1722. George Hill was the first white man tosettle on the south side of the Pamlico River in Bath County,North Carolina. His story can be found in "The Tyson and May Genealogy of Pitt County".
