a. Note:   William is shown in Botetourt County tax records from 1813 to 1820, wi th his name spelled in different ways. In 1813, it is J. or S. Willia m Grills, with one white male over sixteen, one horse/colt/mare an d a tax of sixteen cents. In 1816, S. William Grills is shown as payi ng a tax of eighteen cents. In 1818, William Grill shows one white ma n over sixteen, three horses, and a tax of fifty-four cents. In 181 9 , William Grill shows a tax of thirty-six cents. In 1820 William Gr ill has a tax of the same amount. It is possible that there were addi tional listings, but some of these years' tax records were too faded t o read. William Crill is shown in the 1840 Ohio census in Clark County, Ohio . He is shown in Koscuisko County Indiana in the 1850 census, 61, born i n Virginia, with Catherine, age 59, farmer born in Virginia, and James , 19, and Martha, 16, both born in Ohio. Peter Frantz's will is shown in Will Book 1, p.86, Roanoke Co., Salem , Virginia, dated 22 Jul 1853, probated 21 Aug 1854. It names wife Sa rah, son Nicholas and daughters Catherine Grill, Mary Fullhart, Anna F ullhart, Magdalena Christ, Elizabeth Trout, Sally Gerst and Barbara H oward. LDS records have a Crill line beginning with William. Descendants o f this branch believe that William was a son of John Crill, Sr. The L DS records, additional census entries, and other information come fro m descendants. Another addition comes from the book, "Along The Snake ," written by Geraldine Crill Eller and privately printed by the Unive rsity of LaVerne Press in 1986. She believes this line began from Joh n Crill, the New Jersey Revolutionary War veteran. She is probably ri ght, although in one passage she gets this John confused with the Joh n in Mercer and Franklin Counties, thinking this John's bounty land wa rrant was used for that John's land. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
