Note:   Served in the American Revolutionary War enlisting in VA as a Pvt., 1 Regt., 1st Light Dragoons, VA line, Continental Troops, 5th Troop, commanded by Captain John Hughes. ---- Listed in Revolutional Pension Index with spouse Mary Morris; Fathered at least 11 children between two wives, but not all names known. ---- "In an affidavit 17 Oct. 1821, filed in court of Scott Co., Indiana, Richard Rose aged 63 appears in court, refers to acts of 18 Mar. 1818 and May 1820, states he enlisted for Revolutionary War 1 Mar. 1781 in state of Virginia, under Capt. James Gunn?, Col. Anthony White, discharged June 1783 in South Carolina. This lists inventory, states he is a farmer, wife Mary Rose age 30 (a question about the 0 in her age), children [living with him] are Stephen 12, William 9, Rhody 7, Adam 4 and Margaret 2. Signed by his x mark. Witnessed by James F. D. Lanin? (Note that revolutionary file mentions 11 children, but does not name them.)
