Note: Peter Lineberger, Jr. was the eldest of eleven children born to Peter and Susannah Lineberger. His father, Peter Lineberger, was the youngest of three brothers who landed together at Philadelphia aboard the Billander Oliver on 26 August 1735. It had been a rough and stormy passage, with the voyage lasting some eighteen months. The parents of the three Lineberger boys did not survive the trip and were buried at sea. Brothers Peter and John Lineberger were granted a tract of 1,100 acres in Virginia in 1749, near the present town of Luray. They would latter join their brother, Lewis Lineberger, in the Lincoln County area of North Carolina. Peter Lineberger is first mentioned in a 1772 Tyron County deed where he purchased 200 acres from Francis McCorkle. Peter Lineberger Senior would die in 1802 and his will was probated in Lincoln County in 1803. He willed his surviving children 640 acres of land.
