a. Note:   This is my 4th great grandfather-Bill Underwood He was baptized June 20, 1773 in New Providence, Essex County, New Jersey. "The History of the City of Dayton" by Rev. A. W. Drury states that Aaron Baker made a visit to Dayton in 1794. In 1805, he did the brickwork on McCullum's Tavern and in 1806 he did the brickwork on the court house. In 1807, he located in Dayton. He was the first Methodist class-leader in Dayton and was connected with temperance and other reform societies. He was county coroner from 1814 to 1817, and one of the county commissioners from 1825 to 1830 and from 1832 to 1834. Jonathan Elmer; Presbyterian Church at New Providence, NJ GMNJ Vol 19 No 1 January 1944], his cousin Hannah Maxwell, daughter of William Maxwell. Daniel Baker, Junior, who married _____ _____ in Western Pennsylvania, and went to Ohio. Hannah, married [14 June 1791 by Rev. Jonathan Elmer; Presbyterian Church at New Providence, NJ GMNJ Vol 19 No 1 January 1944] Joseph Rutan, son of Abraham Rutan, of Long Hill, [See Rutan <rutan.htm>.] AARON BAKER, son of Daniel Baker, Senior, and Hannah Maxwell, removed to Dayton Ohio, and had children: Betsey, who married Moses Simpson, son of Alexander Simpson, of Dayton, [See Simpson <simpson.htm>.] David, married, 1st, Sophia Vancleve, daughter of Benjamin Vancleve, of Dayton; 2nd, Sophia Sourbray. Silas Sincas, who died a young man, unmarried, in New Providence, New Jersey. Zina Silas, also died a young man, unmarried. Aaron Baker, was a Justice of the Peace, in Dayton. His wife, Hannah, died December, 1818, and he married, 2nd, in Dayton, Mary Nolan, who died December, 1819, and he married, 3rd, Sally, widow of David Valentine, and daughter of Benjamin Day, Esq. She died 1833, and he married, 4th, Eve Wright, formerly of New York. He had children only by his first wife.
