THOMAS WELLES, one of the first settlers of Hartford, Conn., and Wethersfield, Conn., and one of the early Governors of the Colony of Connecticut, was twice married. 1. To (???) (???). She died (???). 2. To Elizabeth Foote, widow of Nathaniel Foote, one of the first settlers of Wethersfield, about 1646. She was sister of Hon. John Deming, who, likewise was one of the first settlers of Wethersfield.
Hon. Thomas Welles died at Wethersfield, January 14, 1659-60.
His widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Welles, alias Foote, died July 28, 1683, aged about 88 years".
