ANTOINE (ARM-band) Antoine Brassard born towards 1609, arrived from Normandy at summer 1636. Master mason of his trade, Antoine marries on July 14 1637, in the vault of Our-Lady of Recouvrance in Quebec, Francoise Mery, probably originating in Tourouvre, Perche. The couple turns over to France into 1639.
Antoine and Francoise give rise to ten children, including two girls and a son who concerns us in this genealogical description. It is at LaRochelle that is born the elder one of the girls, Jeanne Brassard in 1641, because the same year, the family is back in News-France, whereas Jeanne is three months old. She married in Quebec, February 7 1656, with the ancestor Jacques Hdouin, said Laforge, taillandier, born into 1628, son of Romain Hdouin and Marguerite Bachelin, originating in Orval, close to Rouen, in Normandy. It is in Small Auvergne, close to Quebec, that the couple puts at the new world son and five Hdouin girls, of which Pierre Hdouin who marries into 1698, Marie-Agnes Pilote. The second girl Brassard, Marguerite, baptized in Quebec on January 23 1646, marries into 1653, in Quebec, the ancestor Jean Lemelin, called Tourangeau, carpenter, born into 1632, son of Nol Lemelin and Francoise Mlaine, of Chartres, in Beauce. Of the ten children, it is their Marguerite daughter who continues the descent with two Godbout children of her marriage with Nicolas, in 1710.
Then the son Brassard, Louis, baptized in Quebec, August 3 1653, supplements our link with the Brassard, with his marriage into 1680 to, Simone Maufay, born into 1663, girl of the ancestor Pierre Maufay and Marie Duval. Last nine children are born with the couple whose Brassard Simone-Bores, born in 1696, which becomes the wife of tienne Parent in 1719, son of Michel Parent and Jeanne Chevalier.
Like several other ancestors, the death of Antoine Brassard remains quite mysterious, because we know neither the date of it, nor circumstances. His voyage towards eternity is some share at the end of the winter or at the beginning of the spring of 1669. His widow Francoise Mery hardly survives more than two years her husband. She dies of a sudden death the eleventh day of July of the year millet six hundred and sixty and eleven, in the house of the large alley then is buried the following day, in the cemetery of this parish.
