Hugh Wake, Lord of Bourne b. circa 1210, d. before 18 December 1241, #12159 Pedigree Hugh Wake, Lord of Bourne was born circa 1210 in Blisworth, North Hampshire, England.1 He was the son of Baldwin, Lord of Bourne and Isabel de Briwere.1,2 He was a minor at his father's death before 20 July 1213.3 He married Joan de Stuteville, daughter of Nicholas de Stuteville of Liddell and Devorguille of Galloway, before 29 May 1229 in Yorkshire, England; Her 1st.2,4 He was granted protection to accompany the King to Brittany in April 1230.3 He succeeded to 1/5 the lands of his uncle, William de Briwere, who d.s.p., by right of his mother Isabel on 10 June 1233 in 17 Henry III.2,3 He was sent with the Earl of Lincoln to garrison Shrewsbury in March 1233/34.3 He complained to the King aout the seizure of goods from his estates in Guernsey in 1235.3 He took the cross, in preparation of going on a Crusade, in 1235.3 He was among those forbidden to attend a tournament at Northampton in September 1235.3 He was Constable of Scarborough Castle between 9 February 1239 and 26 June 1239 in England.3 He was Sheriff of Yorkshire between 9 February 1239 and 26 June 1239 in England.3 He accompanied Simon de Montfort on crusade, journeying through Italy and sailing from Brindisi, in 1240.3 He died before 18 December 1241 in Outremer. He died in the Holy Land.4
