From The Chesterton Tribune, Chesterton, IN 9 April 1931 Mrs. Albert Bancroft The death of Mrs. Albert Bancroft, a resident of this community formany years, occurred Tuesday morning at her home in Chesterton. Mrs. Elizabeth Cole Bancroft was born in Hebron, Indiana, on January28, 1859, the daughter of Lucy Garvey and David Payne Cole. She wastherefore 72 years, 2 months, and 9 days old at the time of herpassing. When she was very young the family moved to Liberty Townshipwhere she grew to womanhood. On July 22nd, 1877, she was married at Woodville to Lorenzo AlbertBancroft, who survives her. To this union 7 children were born. Twodied in infancy. Surviving are four sons and one daughter: WilliamD. of New Buffalo, Michigan, Jay E. of Michigan City, Indiana, JosephA. of New Buffalo, Clinton E., at home, and Mrs. Vettie May Bohrer ofChesterton. Besides there are four brothers and two sisters: L. P. Cole ofBranch, Michigan, H. J. Cole of Loup City, Nebraska, Louis and JoeCole of Woodlake, Nebraska, Etta Chapman of Gridley, California, andSally King of Loraine, Oregon. There are also ten grandchildren andthree great grandchildren. She was a member of Phoebe Rebekah Lodge and the American LegionAuxiliary. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 P.M. from the First MethodistChurch in Chesterton with the Rebekahs in charge. Rev. A. E. Bagbywill officiate. Burial will be in Chesterton cemetery.
