Notes
a. Note:   Lacy Garner Notes: Steadman was raised in what we call "Frogtown" southwest of Robbins N.C. He was born in 1843. His father James relocated from the Deep River section of Northern Moore Co. to "Frogtown" sometime between 1840 and 1850. Steadman may have been born up on Deep River or in the "Frogtown" area. I found a deed where Steadman and Wife Elizabeth sold their timber 29 Sept 1899 to J.M. Worth of Randolph Co. N.C. who I understand was a big sawmill man at the time for twenty-two $22.00. Steadman and wife Elizabeth lived in the house later referred to as the Old Flora Ann House across the road from Charles :Bill" Watson on the Noah Rd. at the junction of NC 24-27 and Hwy 705. I have a picture of Steadman with his long beard wife Elizabeth and son Ken in front of their house. The original was found about 20 years ago when they were cleaning out that old house before tearing it down. Someone threw it on the trash pile and Clifford Chrisco recognized it as being Steadman Garner so he gave the picture to my uncle Arthur Garner who was Steadman's Great-Grandson. Arthur's son Ronnie Garner is now in possession of that original. I would estimate the date of that photo as around 1918.
b. Note:   Stedman and Ann Garner lived near his Father.
c. Note:   Elizabeth was only 17 when she and Steadman married. I found a deed where she and her husband Steadman sold their timber in 1899. On that deed her signature was: ANN E. GARNER. So I have to assume that her name was Ann Elizabeth Davis. lg
