He was an owner of a gun factory that once stood on Bear Creek and it was called Mechanic Hill. He bought the gun factory from Hardy Davis took a government contract making Youger rifles for the Mexican government for the war of 1812 the Spanish and American war. William took on a partner David Kennedy a part owner in the gun factory. David Kennedy rode horse back all the way to Philadelphia to learn the trick to the new gun locks-him being a good fiddler he got his foot in the door and learned the trade. Bailey Williamson Sr. fired the first rifle shot across Bear creek. Bailey Williamson Sr. was a volunteer and was in listed in the Spanish American War.
