a. Note:   and grants for 100 acres dated March 10 1772 and for 60 acres dated November 26 1779 on the waters of Williams or Williamson Creek near the Dover Church Community. The property lies NW from the end of Comer Road state road1406 now owned by the Hare family. Adam Comer was likely a grandson of the immigrant Christopher Gommer-changed to Comer who was born in the Pfalze region of Bavaria-now Germany about 1700. Christopher came to America aboard the ship "Snow Molly" landing in Philadelphia Pa. on September 10 1737. His son Johan Adam Gommer was also listed on the ship's manifest. By 1745 Christopher Gommer was in the Shenandoah Valley. Adam Comer was listed in the 1790 census for Moore County NC as head of household with his wife-5 sons-4 daughters. Adam Comer had a son John Comer a daughter Catherine and 7 other children. Catherine Comer married John Sheffield Jr. Adam and John were both listed in the 1810 census. Adam is listed in the 1815 Tax list with 460 acres valued at $500. According to Estate Inventory Adam Comer died prior to 11-20-1820. John Comer was listed in the 1810as head of household with his wife two sons under 10 yrs and two daughters under 10. John is probably father of Philip Comer born about 1814. Philip married Margaret "Peggy" Asbill daughter of Susannah Asbill.
