Jordan, LL.D., Genealogical and Personal History of the Allegheny Valley, Pennsylvania, Vol. 1 (New York: Lewis Historical Publishing Co., 1913), p. 673-674: William McCalmont, son of Alexander McCalmont and Mary (McBride) Wilson, was born at Berwyn, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 15, 1870. He was educated in the public schools of Washington, D. C., graduating from the high school. He then entered the Columbia National Bank and remained in its employ for ten years, being advanced to various responsible positions. He then formed a partnership with Wilson G. Reed, under the firm name of Reed & Wilson, stock brokers, and purchased a seat in the Washington City Stock Exchange. The firm conducted a prosperous business for several years, when Mr. Wilson sold his interest to his partner and removed to Franklin, Pennsylvania. In 1907 he entered the employ of the Galena Signal Oil Company as assistant treasurer and held that position until 1911, when he resigned in order to devote his attention to important interests he had acquired in the Oklahoma oil fields. He married, June 5, 1901, Celia, daughter of Hon. Joseph C. and Metta (Babcock) Sibley. REFERENCE: Joan Search Hanson, C. G. and Kenneth L.
