The family legend may have some credibility as Point Lookout was a Federal Prison full of Confederate soldiers located at the end of the St. Mary's County pennisula. General Bradley T. Johnson hatached a plan to raid the prison and free all the Confederate prisoners, but it never happened. It did, however, make him a hero though in St. Mary's County, which leaned very heavily towards the Confederacy.
