BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Goerger was a younger son in the family of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gorger, both deceased, who were pioneer residents of Stearns county. The family lives on the old homestead two and a half miles south of St. Cloud, the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Weyrens. The father was a veteran of the Civil War. Philip Goerger was born Mrch 7, 1877, and was thus approaching his 54th birthday. He attended rural school and then the old Normal school, graduating first from the Elementary course and then the Advanced course in 1902. Since then he has been engaged in school work constantly, having been principal of schools at Melrose, Richomnd, St. Joseph and Pierz, Minn., and several rural schools. During the past eight years he was teacher of a rural school near Richmond in the area commonly referred to as the Bavarian settlement. -- St. Cloud Daily Times, Mon.
