Note: OBITUARY:from Betty Finchum James. Paper not identified. Sarah Ann Derr. The funeral of Sarah Ann Derr was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Christian church in Cedardale; Rev. Rogers of Woodward officiating. Burial was made in the Cedardale cemetery, R. J. Knittel undertaker in charge. Sarah Ann Derr was born, March 14, 1860 in Cambridge County, England, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Male. At the age of 8 she united with the Episcopal Church of England and became a regular communicant of that body. With her parents, five sisters and three brothers she came to the United States in 1880, and settled on a farm near Wakefield, Kans. It was here that she married Loring Thomas Derr in 1884, to which Union was born 8 children; N.H. Derr, Cedaredge, Colo., Damaree L. Derr, Cedardale, Okla., Sophie L. Chastain, Wichita, Kans, Howard Derr, deceased, Guy A. Derr, Cedardale, Okla., Eva a. Ricker, deceased; Lolita E. Clayon, Lenora, Okla; and Charlotte R. Taylor, Cedardale, Okla. Excepting her husband and the two children, Howard and Eva she leaves her entire family in going to that long desired rest. Also there remains 20 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many friends and neighbors at her home near Cedardale, Okla. Mrs. Derr concluded the book of life at the age of 75 years and 18 days, having written the last chapter on April 2, 1937 in the early morning. The hope which remains to the mortal loved ones may well be expressed as a hope that, as she reads the Book of Life in her restful state that she may continue to smile as she so often did here.
