a. Note:   After Sarah died, "Henderson," as he was usually called, waited for the traditional six months of mourning to end before remarrying 3 September 1867 to Nancy White, daughter of Dempsey White and Nancy Perkins.

Note:   (Medical):William Henderson was a severe athsmatic and had to sleep sitting up at night because he could not lie down, which made his breathing difficult. A part, if not all, of his treatment was smoking some kind of pipe with a medication in it.
