Notes
a. Note:   y sources, Grace Parsons who took care of Sarah Todd in her illness appears to be her 60+ year old great grandmother. Grace was the widow of Robert Parsons who died as a young man in 1708. Their son William 1701-1757 was the founder of Easton in 1752. Grace’s daughter Sarah married Richard Cummins. Richard Cummins died 1729 and in his will named his children John Cummins and Elizabeth Cummins as well as son-in-law Thomas Todd and his grandchildren Sarah and Thomas Todd and Richard, John, Elizabeth and Sarah Cummins. Sarah Todd mentioned in her willl her cousins John and Elizabeth Cummins (who were children of her uncle John Cummins). The family connection to William Parsons may have contributed to Thomas b 1727, Caleb b abt 1730 and Benjamin b abt 1732, moving to Easton from Philadelphia. However, the recent discovery of the appointment in 1745 of Caleb Todd as overseer of Durham Twp, Bucks County which included what became Northampton Co PA suggests that Caleb might have been the father of the three boys. Since Sarah did not mention any brothers, this supports the theory that Caleb Todd the 1745 overseer was their father. Robert Parsons [Wax Seal] Signed sealed published and delivered by the above named Robert Parsons to be his last Will and Testament of present William Wofsoncraft [?] William [X] Prigg Richard Heath Phila’ October 11 1708 CUMMIN, RICHARD. City of Philadelphia. Yeoman. February 2, 1729/30. February 27, 1729. E.124. Wife: Sarah. Children: John, Elizabeth. Friends: John Holme, James Bingham. Son-in-Law: Thomas Todd. Grandchildren: Richard, John, Sarah and Elizabeth Cummin, Thomas and Sarah Todd. Exec: Sarah Cummin. Wit: Edmund Woolley, Barnaby Barns, William Parsons. Sarah Todd remained in Philadelphia after the death of her father in 1732/3. Her mother seems to have died in the intervening 10 years also since Elizabeth Todd is not mentioned in Sarah’s 1743 will. Sarah mentions being taken care of by Grace Parsons, her kinswoman and mentions her cousins John and Elizabeth Cummins. As shown in the following chart, Grace Parsons was probably her great grandmother the widow of Robert Parsons. John and Elizabeth Cummins were her first cousins by John Cummins, their maternal uncle. Possibly the reference to Elizabeth Cummins was to his great-niece Elizabeth Cummins.
