James Montgomery did live near Caleb Todd on land that staddled the boundary between the Clark's Creek and Fishing Creek watersheds in Wilkes Co. Given Name: David Surname: MONTGOMERY Birth: 1718 in Ireland Death: 1791 in Wilkes,Georgia NC Revolutionary War PROVING THE DAVID MONTGOMERY LINE The first documentation concerning David Montgomery was his service during the French and Indian War. His name was on the roster of soldiers who fought the Battle of the Meadows in 1754, under the command of Lt.Col George Washington. "The Washington Papers" NationalArchives. The next documents are a series of deeds to land David Montgomery purchased along Davis Creek in Amherst County Virginia, beginning in1763. By 1788, David owned 600 acres in the area. About 1788-90, David and sons, David Jr.and James sold their lands and moved to WilkesCounty, Georgia.
