Note: k in the Jersey Settlement Area of Rowan Co. This geography is supported by the fact that Caleb Todd was the witness on his 1778 will. One researcher asserted that Moses Cox's widow was born Sarah Todd and that she, as Sarah Cox, married Thomas Todd in 1779. I suspect that Sarah was not a Todd, but that she could have been the Sarah Cox who married Thomas Todd in 1779 and that this Thomas might have been the Thomas Todd son of Caleb Todd d 1795. If so, she must have died, because Thomas Todd married Elizabeth Young in 1786 at the age of about 37. In 1757, Ebenezer Fairchild, a Baptist preacher, visited Ephraim Coxe in the Jersey Settlement on the Yadkin River and in his journal recorded that a woman there told him she had lived there for six years. That would indicate Ephraim may have arrived in North Carolina as early as 1751. (Doris, citing A History of Watauga County) (Doris has also examined the records of the Jersey Baptist Church for later years and found that Sarah Todd, widow of Moses Cox who married Thomas Todd, was a member of that church.) I am not sure how it was determined that Sarah the widow of Moses Cox was a Todd nor how it was determined that Sarah Cox who married Thomas Todd was the widow of Moses Cox. RKM
Note: Deeds indicate that Moses Cox had property on Muddy Run which seems to be near Abbbots Cree
